Venue & Location

The proposed plan for the contest involves the march section commencing at the North end of George Street, Bathgate, marching towards the Steelyard. The entertainment piece will be performed in a defined arena within the Steelyard. It’s important to note that there will be no onsite storage for instrument cases, etc, so participants must plan to leave these items in their own transport.

Additionally, there will be no designated warm-up area. Should bands wish to warm up before the march, they are advised to do so in the pedestrian area of the Acredale Car Park. Bathgate offers ample parking options, including various car parks and free parking around the town. For participating bands intending to use coach transport and requiring coach parking, it is recommended to contact the event organisers in advance to coordinate and agree on the location of coach parking. It is anticipated that coach parking may be available on the upper end of Waverley Street or at Bathgate Sports Centre.

As the event is hosted in a public space, there will be an audience in close proximity during the marching phase. The entertainment phase, situated in a predefined area within the Steelyard, offers a dynamic setting where the audience can stand around 360 degrees of the arena. This setup aims to create an immersive experience for both participants and spectators, allowing everyone to enjoy the performances from various vantage points within the Steelyard.
